Benefits of Blogging

The benefits of blogging in the classroom are:
1. Blogs offer real reading material sometimes straight from the author.
2. It introduces computers and how to communicate through them.
3. Blogs are about current topics, and most of the time find one on any subject or interest.
4. Some students may find it more fun and improve their writing skills.
5. Blogging may hold the attention of students longer so that the teacher can cover more material.
6. Students can learn how to use vocabulary through the computer.
7. Introduces new topics to students that teachers may not know how to teach as well.
8. Its free for the teacher
9. Easy to use for the teacher and students.
10. Very good way to communicate with many people through the school, or just in the classroom its self.

Impact of Technology

When I was in school I can remember being in 2nd grade and being in a class considered the 21st century class. In this class we would stay after school two days a week and there we would be introduced to the computers and how to use them. In my elementary school there were only a few of these classes. By the time I was in the 5th grade we had a computer lab in the library, but I really don't remember using that much technology until about the 7th grade. I think technology has grown a ton since then. I feel like my students will know far more than I will and in a way it will make a difference in how students are taught. In PE we won't use it as much as a normal classroom, but Physical education classes are beginning to incorporate it more and more into their lessons. My students will all be introduced to it even if they are at the elementary level. So I think technology will probably be involved in my class more than what I think it will be.
