The benefits of blogging in the classroom are:
1. Blogs offer real reading material sometimes straight from the author.
2. It introduces computers and how to communicate through them.
3. Blogs are about current topics, and most of the time find one on any subject or interest.
4. Some students may find it more fun and improve their writing skills.
5. Blogging may hold the attention of students longer so that the teacher can cover more material.
6. Students can learn how to use vocabulary through the computer.
7. Introduces new topics to students that teachers may not know how to teach as well.
8. Its free for the teacher
9. Easy to use for the teacher and students.
10. Very good way to communicate with many people through the school, or just in the classroom its self.

I find your arguments very convincing, especially the third and fourth points. It is true that many blogs can be valuable because of their focus on relevant topics. Also, I agree that students may enjoy using blogs and become more interested in writing as a result.
