Impact of Technology

When I was in school I can remember being in 2nd grade and being in a class considered the 21st century class. In this class we would stay after school two days a week and there we would be introduced to the computers and how to use them. In my elementary school there were only a few of these classes. By the time I was in the 5th grade we had a computer lab in the library, but I really don't remember using that much technology until about the 7th grade. I think technology has grown a ton since then. I feel like my students will know far more than I will and in a way it will make a difference in how students are taught. In PE we won't use it as much as a normal classroom, but Physical education classes are beginning to incorporate it more and more into their lessons. My students will all be introduced to it even if they are at the elementary level. So I think technology will probably be involved in my class more than what I think it will be.

  3. The use of interactive video games like Wii Fit is a great technology incorporation into the PE classroom. Also computers can be used to track workouts, weight management, and other assessment materials used in PE. I agree that it will be a challenge we must face and conquer to keep up with current technology in order to better reach/teach our students!

  4. I think it's kind of funny to look back at the technology that was so cutting edge when we were in school. When I was in elementary school, I was in a computer club (I know - dorky! lol)that got to stay after school and do all kinds of cool stuff with computers. I'm sure that the stuff we did then isn't even that advanced or that special now, but at the time it was all new and pretty cool!
